My Journey Back to Islam

Born and raised in the Middle East, until the age of 22. In 1969, my family and I migrated to

California— a dream that had taken nearly fifteen years to realize. Living in the West opened

doors toopportunities and freedoms I had never known before. I embraced the new culture,

worked hard, and soon became a successful entrepreneur and real estate broker in

Southern California.

With a luxurious home overlooking the Pacific Ocean, a Rolls Royce, and every comfort

I could imagine, I believed I had achieved everything life had to offer. Yet deep inside,

I felt an emptiness that wealth and status could never fill. My heart longed for peace and truth.

This longing led me on a spiritual search that took me through several faiths

— Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity. Each offered lessons, but none gave me

the complete connection to God my soul yearned for. I could not worship what I knew were false gods.

It was during this search that I finally turned back to the Qur’an — a book I owned but had never opened. As I read Surah Al-Fatihah with meaning for the very first time, I was overwhelmed by its message. The reality of Allah’s Oneness struck my heart so deeply that I wept uncontrollably. I knew then that I had found my Lord — the One I had been seeking all along.

That moment changed the course of my life forever. I returned to Islam with full conviction, though my knowledge was still limited. I then devoted my life to studying, understanding, and living by the Qur’an. What followed were decades of learning, reflection, and service — guiding others to the truth of Tawheed and the beauty of living by the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Over the years, I have shared my journey and teachings through lectures, writings, and online platforms, reaching thousands of seekers around the world.

After thirty years of continuous daily memorization, by the grace and mercy of Allah, I completed memorizing the entire Qur’an at the age of 73 — a dream that once seemed impossible, yet was made easy through patience, perseverance, and Allah’s help.

In Ramadan 2020, I launched the Raya Quran Groups initiative on Facebook to help others connect to Allah’s words, learn Tajweed, and strengthen their faith through the Qur’an. This was followed by other groups dedicated to expanding Qur’anic and Islamic knowledge.

Today, my mission continues — to inspire and assist others, regardless of age or background, to begin and complete their own Qur’an journey.
